About Little Mountain Learners
Our mission is to foster a cooperative community of homeschool families who are together cultivating a whole-child-based educational model set in the natural world.
Little Mountain Learners, Ltd Co (LML) is an alternative educational cooperative designed to supplement each learner's individual homeschool journey. Nature-based and secular, LML aims to blend emergent and directed learning. We place a high priority on social and emotional development and life skills, while still reinforcing traditional academics. LML meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in NW Richland County, as well as occasional Fridays across the midlands.
At LML, we believe that learning opportunities happen every day, all around us. We attempt to lean into these opportunities, with the learners as our guides. Our educators use curriculum to craft lessons, though a day's plans are always subject to change based on the current needs and desires of the learners. As a nature-based program, we spend 95+% of our time outdoors. We feel that connecting to the natural world is of utmost importance and, sadly, something that is lost in traditional schools. Our educators are continuously learning and growing in an attempt to craft a program that kids wake up excited to participate in.
More than just a homeschool co-op, LML is a community. We encourage all caregivers and siblings to gather with us. Humans are meant to live in tribes, and that is how we view the families involved in LML. Children and caregivers alike learn together, play together, grow together, realize their fullest potential together, support each other, and THRIVE. I hope you are as excited as we are to be a part of this movement

LML is a cooperative community, and as such, we prefer that caregivers remain on site throughout the day. However, we do allow drop offs on a case by case basis. You can discuss this with Kristi to determine if this option is available to you.

At LML, we believe in the Danish saying that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. We spend 95% of our time outdoors, in all types of weather. Clothing and gear recommendations will be listed in your enrollment letter. In the case of inclement weather, we will either gather in the school house (on site), or meet at a local library or museum for that day.
